Maple Recipes Sugar on
Snow
(Also known as "Jack-wax")
Boil maple syrup until fine thread forms from spoon and hardens to a
taffy like consistency when poured on packed snow.
Maple Sauce
Ingredients:
2 c maple syrup
2 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp butter (optional)
Directions:
Bring maple syrup to a boil. Dissolve cornstarch in a little cold water
and then pour it gradually into the boiling syrup, stirring to prevent
lumps. Cook sauce 5 to 8 minutes. Add butter if desired. Delicious on
ice cream.
Maple Milk Shake
Mix together 2 cups milk, 1/3 cup maple syrup, and 1 pint of vanilla ice
cream.
Makes about 4 glasses.
Maple Baked Beans
Ingredients:
¼ cup of New York Maple Syrup
1 28oz can of any brand baked beans (original flavor, drained)
¼ cup minced onions
1 tbsp. of prepared mustard
Pinch of salt
Dash of pepper
4 or 5 strips of Bacon, uncooked
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix first six ingredients in a medium size
bowl. (Do not over stir, beans can get mushy) Then pour contents of bowl
into a 9”x9” baking dish, spread them until they are flat in dish. Then
place strips of uncooked bacon across top so that the beans are all
covered. Bake in preheated oven for 35min, or until bacon is cooked to
your liking.

Other Cooking Tips
- When you make Italian dressing using a
packet of Good Seasons mix, substitute the water with maple syrup.
(Makes it sweet and tangy…yum!!)
- When making meat loaf, add maple syrup
to your sauce and pour over top.
- Pour maple syrup over the top of your
scalloped potatoes and ham before placing them in the oven.
- Use maple granulated sugar in place of
brown sugar.
- Delicious on carrots and squash.
